The district Dog squad is functioning in one of the new building constructed by Police Housing Corporation inside Angul P.S. campus. At present only one tracker Police dog named “MARIE” is accommodated and fed in the kennel. Due to retirement of Dog ASI P.K. Jena, Sgt. Sashikanta Naik of R.O, Angul is in-charge of district Dog squad. Handler Constable Sashi Bhusan Parida and handler Home Guard Biseswar Naik is maintaining and imparting training the Police Dog.
The Dog squad has been working in the district to help in different investigations to Police Stations, Detection of explosive, Narcotics, suspicious articles during fair and festival . Presently, the following categories of dog being duly trained are available in the unit.

Sniffer dogs for detection of Explosive
Sniffer dogs for detection of Narcotics
Search and Rescue dogs used during natural disasters
Besides, the explosive sniffer dogs have been used in different occurrences such as, giving protection to VVIPs, raids, Law and order duties and for opening roads in left wing extremist affected areas.
