Geographically the location of the Angul District is at the centre of the state. On the formation of new District Angul is formed in the year 1993. The Population of the District is about 12,73821. The total sanctioned strength of Angul District Police is about 1008. It comes under the North Central Police Range( NCR) and D.I.G is in-charge of the range. The District is divided in to four sub divisions i ‘e Angul, Athamallik, Talcher and Pallahara. SDPOs are in- charge of the sub-division to look after the smooth functioning of PSs problems arising out for Law and order situation , crime control etc. Total 23 Police stations are functioning in Angul District including energy PS. Out of which S.Is are posted as O.I.C in 02 police stations rest P.S are headed by Inspector in Charge. On the other hand there are 04 TOPs, 07 Out Post and 06 Beat houses are functioning. The office of Superintendent of Police, Angul has also several branches like DIB,DCRB, DHRPC, IWC, IAHTU and other. Police training college is located at Angul where police personnel are getting their training . Besides a forest training college is also situated in this District.
